The bible verses most often turned to when you feel like giving up are Galatians 6:9, Isaiah 40:31, Luke 18:1, Isaiah 43:2 and Lamentations 3:22-23. All twenty below are King James, and each one has a line underneath about when to reach for it.

You do not have to read all twenty. Take the one that matches today.

Bible verses about not giving up, the ordinary kind

This is not about walking away from your life. It is about the quieter version, the one nobody asks about.

The version where you think about how much easier it would be to stop trying. To stop making the effort with the person who does not make it back. To stop praying about the thing you have prayed about for two years. To let the house stay as it is, and the plans stay unmade, and see what happens.

That is the kind of giving up most women mean. And it usually arrives on an ordinary Tuesday, not in a crisis.

If that is where you are, these are for you.

Encouraging bible verses for tough times, and what to do when one does not help

Sometimes you read one and nothing happens. That is not a failure of faith and it does not mean you picked the wrong verse.

Say it out loud anyway. Especially when you do not believe it.

Write it somewhere you will pass it. The inside of a cupboard door. The car dashboard. Not a notebook you have to remember to open.

Take one, not twenty. One verse for as long as you need it is worth more than twenty you read once.

Ask for the smallest thing. Not for the whole situation to resolve. For today.
